BEN STILES
(1889 - unknown)

Ben Stiles was a folk carver from Moncton, New Brunswick. We have only found his carvings of people and their pets. The people have distinctive round eyes and open mouth smiles. They are well dressed and look like they are out for a stroll or heading home from church. Mr. Stilles has painted jewerlry and red nail polish on the female carvings. The men often wear a hat. They are reminiscent of the work of West Virginia outsider artist S. L. Jones.
