Brian Fancy was born in Caledonia, Nova Scotia in 1951 and moved to Liverpool at 15 years of age. Brian was a transport truck driver, a very talented folk artist, carpenter and contractor. He carved people, birds, beavers, bears, dogs, cats and other animals. His wife Carolyn helped Brian by painting his birds and figures.
A common theme with the Nova Scotia folk artists has always been the Canadian Mountie. Brian Fancy s Mounties are always standing at full attention in their bright red serge tunics complete with a high neck collar, stetson hat and yellow stripe breeches. They look straight at you with their piercing eyes.
